IBT Student-led Start-up Wins Award
Our IBT student-led start-up won 3rd place in the Rice Alliance Business Plan Qualifier Competition and received a $1000 prize for their Neurnano Therapeutics team. Congratulations to Anh Vo and Uffaf Khan. Their group has only been together a few months and placed better than many more experienced teams.
Congrats to the winning startups at the Rice Alliance's RBPC Qualifier Competition!
Neurnano Therapeutics placed third and won $1,000, led by Matthew Morones, MD/MBA Candidate, Joella (Jojo) Peng (MBA Candidate), Anh Vo (Ph.D. Candidate, TAMU), and Uffaf Khan (Ph.D. Candidate, TAMU) under advisor Thomas A Kent, Robert Welch Chair Professor Center for Genomic and Precision Medicine, Texas A&M Health Science Center-Houston (pictured above).
Tierra Climate won first place and will represent Rice University at the Rice Business Plan Competition, led by Emma Johnson Konet (a Forbes 30 under 30 honoree and Rice MBA) and Jacob Mansfield. They won $2,500 sponsored by Egan Nelson LLP.
Sygne Solutions was runner-up and won $1,500, led by Bo Wang, Rice Ph.D. Candidate in Chemical Engineering under advisor Michael Wong, Subash Kannan, Rice MBA, and Dana Vazquez (not pictured).
Fourth place was finalist Mercator Biosciences, led by Jacob Goell, Ph.D. Student in Bioengineering, Isaac Hilton, Assistant Professor-Bioengineering, and Robert Ng, Ph.D. (Cornell).
The awards were offered courtesy of the law firm of Egan Nelson LLP and Thomas Nelson under the Edward Molter Memorial Cash Prizes for the three finalists.
